“The scribes and the Pharisees have seated themselves in Moses’ chair.
For I tell y’all that unless your* righteousness exceeds that of the scribes and Pharisees, there is no way y’all will enter into the Empire of Heaven.
The scribes who came down from Jerusalem said, “He is possessed by Beelzebul,” and, “By the prince of the demons he casts out the demons.”

This is the testimony of John, when the Jews sent priests and Levites from Jerusalem to ask him, “Who are you?”
There was a great uproar, and some of the scribes of the Pharisees rose up and began to argue, “We find no evil in this man. What if a spirit or angel has spoken to him?”
Once Paul arrived, the Jews who had come down from Jerusalem stood around him, bringing many serious charges against him which they were not able to prove.
