“Six days you are to do your work, and on the seventh day you are to rest, so that your ox and your donkey may have rest, and the son of your servant, and the resident foreigner may be refreshed.


‘Work is to be done for six days, but on the seventh day there is be a holy day for y’all, a Sabbath of solemn rest to YHWH. Whoever does any work in it must be put to death.


“If you turn away your foot from the Sabbath, from doing your pleasure on my holy day, and call the Sabbath a delight, and the holy of YHWH honorable, and honor it, not doing your own ways, nor finding your own pleasure, nor speaking your own words,


And a man with a withered hand was there. They asked him, “Is it lawful to heal on the Sabbath day?” so that they could accuse him.


But he said to them, “Haven’t y’all read what David did when he was hungry? He and his companions


The Pharisees said to him, “Look, why are they doing what is not lawful on the Sabbath day?”


In response, Jesus asked the legal experts and Pharisees, “Is it lawful to heal on the Sabbath?”


They returned home and prepared spices and perfumes. And they rested on the Sabbath according to the commandment.


But some of the Pharisees said to them, “Why are y’all doing what is unlawful on the Sabbath day?”
