When Jehu came out to the servants of his lord, one of them said to him, “Is everything all right? Why did this madman come to you?” Then he said to them, “Y’all know the man and how he talks.”


I didn’t sit in the company of revelers or rejoice with them. I sat alone because of your hand, for you have filled me with indignation.


“YHWH has made you priest in the place of Jehoiada the priest, that there may be officers in the house of YHWH, for every man who is crazy and makes himself a prophet, that you should put him in the stocks and in shackles.


The days of visitation have come. The days of reckoning have come. Israel will consider the prophet to be a fool, and the man who is inspired to be insane, because of the abundance of your sins, and because your hostility is great.


It is enough for a disciple to be like their teacher, and the servant like their master. If they have called the master of the house Beelzebul, how much more the members of his household!


and say, ‘We played the flute for y’all, and y’all didn’t dance. We sang a dirge for y’all, and y’all didn’t mourn.’


Now John himself wore clothing made of camel hair and a leather belt around his waist. His food was locusts and wild honey.


But the Pharisees said, “He casts out demons by the ruler of demons.”


The scribes who came down from Jerusalem said, “He is possessed by Beelzebul,” and, “By the prince of the demons he casts out the demons.”


for he will be great in the sight of the Lord. He must never drink wine or spirits, but he will be filled with the Holy Spirit while still in his mother’s womb.


Many of them said, “He has a demon and is insane! Why do y’all listen to him?”


The multitude answered, “You have a demon! Who is trying to kill you?”


Then the Jews answered him, “Aren’t we correct in saying that you are a Samaritan, and are possessed by a demon?”


Then the Jews said to him, “Now we know that you have a demon! Abraham died, and so did the prophets, yet you say, ‘If anyone keeps my word, they will never taste of death.’


As Paul was saying this in his defense, Festus exclaimed loudly, “Paul, you are out of your mind! Your great learning is driving you insane!”


Instead I beat my body and make it my slave, so that after I have preached to others, I myself should not be disqualified.
