The Lord said, “Because this people draws near with their mouth and honors me with their lips, but they have removed their heart far from me, and their fear of me is a commandment of men which has been taught;


Y’all have said, ‘It is futile to serve God,’ and ‘What profit is it that we have followed ʜɪꜱ instructions and that we have walked mournfully before YHWH Almighty?


And they worship me in vain, teaching as doctrine human rules.’”


In praying, y’all are not to use vain repetitions as the ethnic groups do, for they think they will be heard because of their many words.


If Christ has not been raised, then our preaching is in vain and y’all’s faith also is in vain.


Therefore, my beloved siblings, y’all must stand firm, immovable, always abounding in the Lord’s work, because y’all know that y’all’s labor in the Lord is not in vain.


Everything that I command y’all, y’all must observe to do. You must not add to it, nor take away from it.


These rules refer to things destined to perish with use, and are based on human precepts and doctrines.


But avoid foolish controversies, genealogies, infighting, and disputes about the Law, because they are unprofitable and useless.


If anyone thinks of themself as religious but doesn’t bridle their tongue, they deceive their own heart and their religion is worthless.


But are you willing to learn, O foolish human, that faith apart from works is useless?


I testify to everyone who hears the words of the prophecy of this scroll: if anyone adds to them, God will add to that person the plagues that are written in this scroll.


Y’all must not turn away to go after vain things that can’t profit and can’t deliver, because they are worthless.
