“You must not carry the name of YHWH your God in an empty way, for YHWH will not hold anyone guiltless who carries ʜɪꜱ name in an empty way.
When a man vows a vow to YHWH, or swears an oath to bind his soul with a bond of obligation, he must not break his word. He must do everything that proceeds from his mouth.
unless when we come into the land you tie this scarlet cord to the window that you used to let us down. Bring your father, your mother, your brothers, and all your father’s household into the house.
But if you talk about this business of ours, then we will be free from your oath that you’ve made us to swear.”
