God said, “No, but Sarah, your wife, will bear you a son. You are to name him Isaac. I will establish my covenant with him for an everlasting covenant for his offspring after him.
But I will establish my covenant with Isaac, whom Sarah will bear to you at this set time next year.”
God said to Abraham, “Don’t let it be grievous in your sight because of the boy, and because of your servant. In all that Sarah says to you, listen to her voice. For your offspring will be named through Isaac.
Sarah said, “God has made me laugh. Everyone who hears will laugh with me.”
He said, “Now take your son, your only son, Isaac, whom you love, and go into the land of Moriah. Offer him there as a burnt offering on one of the mountains which I will tell you of.”
This is the history of the generations of Isaac, Abraham’s son. Abraham became the father of Isaac.
Abraham fathered Isaac. Isaac fathered Jacob. Jacob fathered Judah and his brothers.
Then ʜᴇ gave Abraham the covenant of circumcision, and so he became the father of Isaac, and circumcised him the eighth day. Isaac became the father of Jacob, and Jacob became the father of the twelve patriarchs.
Nor because they are Abraham’s offspring, are they all children. Rather “your offspring will be counted as from Isaac.”
even though it was said to him, “Your descendants will carry on your name through Isaac.”
I took y’all’s father Abraham from beyond the River, and led him throughout all the land of Canaan, and multiplied his descendants and gave him Isaac.
