Abraham traveled from there toward the land of the South, and lived between Kadesh and Shur. He lived as a foreigner in Gerar.


Abraham planted a tamarisk tree in Beersheba, and there he called on the name of YHWH, the Everlasting God.


and came to the stronghold of Tyre, and to all the cities of the Hivites and of the Canaanites; and they went out to the south of Judah, at Beersheba.


Moses sent them to spy out the land of Canaan, and said to them, “Y’all go up through the Negev, then go up into the hill country.


So Joshua struck all the land, the hill country, the South, the lowland, the slopes, and all their kings. He left no one remaining, but he utterly destroyed all that breathed, as YHWH, the God of Israel, commanded.


They are to divide it into seven portions. Judah will live in his borders on the south, and the house of Joseph will live in their borders on the north.


Achish said, “Where did y’all raid today?” David said, “Against the South of Judah, against the South of the Jerahmeelites, and against the South of the Kenites.”
