They came to Jesus, and saw him who had been possessed by demons sitting, clothed, and in his right mind, the very one who had the “legion.” They were terrified.


For Jesus had commanded the impure spirit to come out of the man. It has seized him many times, and he was chained hand and foot and kept under guard, but he would break the bonds, and the demon would drive him into deserted places.


So the people went out to see what had happened. They came to Jesus and found the man from whom the demons had gone out, sitting at Jesus’s feet, dressed and in his right mind—and they were afraid.


The evil spirit answered, “I know Jesus, and I recognize Paul, but who are y’all?”


When this became known to all the Jews and Greeks who lived at Ephesus, fear fell over them all, and the name of the Lord Jesus was held in high honor.


He jumped up, stood upright, and began to walk. He entered the temple with them, walking, leaping, and praising God.
