¶ All the generations from Abraham to David are fourteen generations. And from David unto the captivity of Babylon, are fourteen generations. And from the captivity of Babylon unto Christ, are also fourteen generations.


For Herod took Ihon and bound him, and put him in prison for Herodias' sake, his brother Philip's wife.


¶ When Iesus had heard that Ihon was taken, he departed into Galilee,


¶ Then came the disciples of Ihon to him, saying: why do we and the pharises fast oft, but thy disciples fast not?


¶ For Herode himself, had sent forth, and had taken Ihon, and bound him and cast him into prison for Herodias' sake which was his brother Philip's wife. For he had married her.


¶ Then Herod the Tetrach (when he was rebuked of him for Herodias his brother Philippe's wife, and for all the evils which Herod had done)


¶ Herod the tetrarch heard of all that by him was done, and doubted because that it was said of some, that Ihon was risen again from death.


¶ As soon as the Lord had knowledge, how that it was come to the ears of the pharises, that Iesus made and baptised more disciples than Ihon
