Now after Jesus was born in Bethlehem of Judea, in the days of Herod the king, behold wise men came from the East to Jerusalem, saying, Where is he that is born king of the Jews?

The law and the Prophets were until John: from that time the kingdom of God is preached, and every man forceth into it.
And he came into all the country about Jordan, preaching the baptism of repentance, for the remission of sins:
that came forth to be baptized of him, Ye brood of vipers, who hath warned you to flee from the wrath to come?
And John also was baptizing in Enon, near Salim, because there was much water there; and they came and were baptized.
He was a burning and a shining light, and ye were willing for a season to rejoice in his light.
