Then the ruling kohanim and elders of the people were gathered together in the court of the kohen gadol named Caiaphas.
During the high priesthood of Annas and Caiaphas, the word of God came upon John, the son of Zechariah, in the wilderness.
Now he did not say this by himself; but as the kohen gadol that year, he prophesied that Yeshua would die for the nation.
Annas the kohen gadol was there, and Caiaphas and John and Alexander, and all those who were of high-priestly descent.
Where is the wise one? Where is the Torah scholar? Where is the debater of this age? Hasn’t God made foolish the wisdom of the world?
We do speak wisdom, however, among those who are mature—but not a wisdom of this age or of the rulers of this age, who are coming to nothing.
