Then King Rehoboam consulted with the elders who had served his father Solomon while he was alive, saying, “How do you advise me to answer this people?”

“Indeed, my eye has seen it all, my ears have heard and understood it.


Both gray-haired and aged are with us, men even older than your father.


what wise men have declared and did not hide from their ancestors,


Do you not know that it has been from old, since mankind was put on earth,


For the music director, a psalm of the sons of Korah, a contemplative song.


The living, the living—they praise You— as I do today. A father makes Your faithfulness known to his children.


Hear this, elders! Give ear, all inhabitants of the land. Has this ever happened in your days, or even in the days of your fathers?
