I will say to God, ‘Do not condemn me; tell me why You contend with me.’
For You write bitter things against me and make me inherit the iniquities of my youth.
For then You will number my steps; You will not keep track of my sin;
For my sighing comes instead of my bread, and my groans pour out like water.

He sings to others, saying, ‘I have sinned and perverted what is right, but I did not get what I deserved.
For you ask, ‘What will it profit you?’ and ‘What do I gain by not sinning?’
If you sin, how does it affect Him? If your transgressions are many, what do you do to Him?
For the arrows of Shaddai are in me, my spirit drinks in their poison; God’s terrors line up against me.
Though they intended evil against You and devised a plot, they cannot succeed.
