Then David said to Nathan, “I have sinned against Adonai.” Nathan replied to David, “Adonai also has made your sin pass away—you will not die.


Why then have you despised the word of Adonai by doing such evil in My eyes? Uriah the Hittite you have struck down with the sword, and his wife you have taken to be your wife, and him you have slain with the sword of the children of Ammon


When the boughs are withered, they will be broken off. Women come and set them on fire, for it is a people of no understanding. Therefore their Maker will show them no mercy—He who formed them will give them no grace.


And I will smash them against each other, even fathers and sons,’ says Adonai. ‘I will show no pity, nor regret, nor compassion, to keep Me from destroying them.’”


So the whole assembly took him outside the camp. They stoned him with stones. He died just as Adonai commanded Moses.


But if he does not listen, take with you one or two more, so that ‘by the mouth of two or three witnesses every word may stand.’


Even in your Torah it is written that the testimony of two men is true.


For to Moses He says, “I will have mercy on whom I have mercy, and I will have compassion on whom I have compassion.”


This is the third time I am coming to you. “By the testimony of two or three witnesses shall every word be established.”


Your eye should not pity him, but you must purge the innocent blood from Israel, so that it may go well with you.


A single witness shall not rise up against a person for any offense or sin that he commits. By the word of two or three witnesses is a case to be established.


See to it that you do not refuse the One who is speaking! For if they did not escape when they refused the One who was warning them on earth, much less will we escape if we reject the One who warns us from heaven.


For if the word spoken through angels proved to be firm, and every violation and disobedience received a just payback,


For judgment is merciless to the one who does not show mercy. Mercy triumphs over judgment.
