Do not make gods of silver alongside Me, and do not make gods of gold for yourselves.


You are not to act as they do in the land of Egypt, where you used to live. Nor are you to act as they do in the land of Canaan, where I am bringing you, nor are you to walk in their customs.


Watch yourselves, so your heart is not deceived, and you turn aside and serve other gods and worship them.


“Adonai will bring you and the king you set over you to a nation you and your fathers have not known—and there you will serve other gods, wood and stone.


You saw their detestable things and their idols —wood and stone, silver and gold—that were with them.


There you will serve man-made gods of wood and stone, which do not see or hear or eat or smell.
