that the king said to the prophet Nathan, “See now, I am living in a house of cedar, yet the ark of God remains within curtains.”
Zadok son of Ahitub and Ahimelech son of Abiathar were kohanim; Seraiah was scribe;
Benaiah son of Jehoiada was over the Cherethites and the Pelethites, and David’s sons were chief ministers.
but he did not invite Nathan the prophet, Benaiah, the mighty men, or Solomon.
He has sacrificed oxen, fattened cattle and sheep in abundance, and has invited all the king’s sons, Abiathar the kohen and Joab the commander of the army, but he has not invited Solomon your servant.
Was this thing done by my lord the king, without letting your servants know who should sit on the throne of my lord the king after him?”
But Zadok the kohen, Benaiah son of Jehoiada, Nathan the prophet, Shimei, Rei and David’s mighty men, were not on Adonijah’s side.
Then the king appointed Benaiah son of Jehoiada in his place over the army, and Zadok the kohen the king appointed in Abiathar’s place.
