‘Even the dust that clings to us from your town we wipe off against you. Yet know this: The kingdom of God has drawn near to you.’


One Sabbath, when Jesus went to eat at the house of one of the rulers of the Pharisees, the people there were watching him closely.


“The Law and the Prophets were until John; since then the good news of the kingdom of God has been preached, and everyone tries to force his way into it.


Now as the people were listening to this, Jesus went on to tell a parable, because he was near Jerusalem, and because they thought that the kingdom of God was going to appear at once.


Jesus answered, “My kingdom is not of this world. If my kingdom were of this world, my servants would be fighting to keep me from being delivered up to the Jews. But as it is, my kingdom is not from here.”
