And when the angel stretched out his hand toward Jerusalem to destroy it, the LORD repented him of the evil, and said to the angel that destroyed the people, It is enough; now stay thine hand. And the angel of the LORD was by the threshing-floor of Araunah the Jebusite.


A sound of terrors is in his ears; In prosperity the spoiler shall come upon him:


My spirit is consumed, my days are extinct, The grave is ready for me.


He keepeth back his soul from the pit, And his life from perishing by the sword


He hath redeemed my soul from going into the pit, And my life shall behold the light


Oh remember that my life is wind: Mine eye shall no more see good.


Their soul abhorreth all manner of meat; And they draw near unto the gates of death.


As for the works of men, by the word of thy lips I have kept me from the ways of the violent.


O LORD, thou hast brought up my soul from Sheol: Thou hast kept me alive, that I should not go down to the pit.

They have over them as king the angel of the abyss: his name in Hebrew is Abaddon, and in the Greek tongue he hath the name Apollyon.


The LORD killeth, and maketh alive: he bringeth down to the grave, and bringeth up.
