Are not my days few? cease then, And let me alone, that I may take comfort a little,


For thou writest bitter things against me, And makest me to inherit the iniquities of my youth:


As God liveth, who hath taken away my right; And the Almighty, who hath vexed my soul;


Wherefore is light given to him that is in misery, And life unto the bitter in soul;


How long wilt thou not look away from me, Nor let me alone till I swallow down my spittle?


O spare me, that I may recover strength, Before I go hence, and be no more.


Thy wrath lieth hard upon me, And thou hast afflicted me with all thy waves. Selah


but have walked after the stubbornness of their own heart, and after the Baalim, which their fathers taught them:


He hath filled me with bitterness, he hath sated me with wormwood.


Surely against me he turneth his hand again and again all the day.


All chastening seemeth for the present to be not joyous, but grievous: yet afterward it yieldeth peaceable fruit unto them that have been exercised thereby, even the fruit of righteousness.


And she said unto them, Call me not Naomi, call me Mara: for the Almighty hath dealt very bitterly with me.
