And Jacob said, “O God of my father Abraham and God of my father Isaac, O Lord who didst say to me, ‘Return to your country and to your kindred, and I will do you good,’


But God remembered Noah and all the beasts and all the cattle that were with him in the ark. And God made a wind blow over the earth, and the waters subsided;


In times past, when Saul was king over us, it was you that led out and brought in Israel; and the Lord said to you, ‘You shall be shepherd of my people Israel, and you shall be prince over Israel.’ ”


And now, O Lord God, confirm for ever the word which thou hast spoken concerning thy servant and concerning his house, and do as thou hast spoken;


“Remember that my life is a breath; my eye will never again see good.


Sing to him, sing praises to him, tell of all his wonderful works!


For he remembered his holy promise, and Abraham his servant.


Remember me, O Lord, when thou showest favor to thy people; help me when thou deliverest them;


He remembered for their sake his covenant, and relented according to the abundance of his steadfast love.


I rise before dawn and cry for help; I hope in thy words.


And take not the word of truth utterly out of my mouth, for my hope is in thy ordinances.


Those who fear thee shall see me and rejoice, because I have hoped in thy word.


My soul languishes for thy salvation; I hope in thy word.


But I will hope continually, and will praise thee yet more and more.


Upon your walls, O Jerusalem, I have set watchmen; all the day and all the night they shall never be silent. You who put the Lord in remembrance, take no rest,


May the God of hope fill you with all joy and peace in believing, so that by the power of the Holy Spirit you may abound in hope.


Therefore gird up your minds, be sober, set your hope fully upon the grace that is coming to you at the revelation of Jesus Christ.


Through him you have confidence in God, who raised him from the dead and gave him glory, so that your faith and hope are in God.
