How often they rebelled against him in the wilderness and grieved him in the desert!


In distress you called, and I delivered you; I answered you in the secret place of thunder; I tested you at the waters of Meribah. Selah


And he called the name of the place Massah and Meribah, because of the faultfinding of the children of Israel, and because they put the Lord to the proof by saying, “Is the Lord among us or not?”


The Lord was angry with me also on your account, and said, ‘You also shall not go in there;


But the Lord was angry with me on your account, and would not hearken to me; and the Lord said to me, ‘Let it suffice you; speak no more to me of this matter.


Furthermore the Lord was angry with me on your account, and he swore that I should not cross the Jordan, and that I should not enter the good land which the Lord your God gives you for an inheritance.
