“Again, the kingdom of heaven is like a merchant in search of fine pearls.
Again, the kingdom of heaven is like a merchant seeking good pearls.
Again the kingdom of heaven is like to a merchant seeking good pearls.
No mention shall be made of coral or of crystal; the price of wisdom is above pearls.
The end of the matter; all has been heard. Fear God, and keep his commandments; for this is the whole duty of man.
Vanity of vanities, says the Preacher; all is vanity.
Another parable he put before them, saying, “The kingdom of heaven may be compared to a man who sowed good seed in his field;
who, on finding one pearl of great value, went and sold all that he had and bought it.
For what will it profit a man, if he gains the whole world and forfeits his life? Or what shall a man give in return for his life?
But they made light of it and went off, one to his farm, another to his business,
“Do not give dogs what is holy; and do not throw your pearls before swine, lest they trample them under foot and turn to attack you.
