When Abraham's servant heard their words, he bowed himself to the earth before the Lord.


They said, “Your servant our father is well, he is still alive.” And they bowed their heads and made obeisance.


Yet I will leave seven thousand in Israel, all the knees that have not bowed to Baal, and every mouth that has not kissed him.”


Will it be well with you when he searches you out? Or can you deceive him, as one deceives a man?


I am the talk of those who sit in the gate, and the drunkards make songs about me.


By myself I have sworn, from my mouth has gone forth in righteousness a word that shall not return: ‘To me every knee shall bow, every tongue shall swear.’


Thus says the Lord, the Redeemer of Israel and his Holy One, to one deeply despised, abhorred by the nations, the servant of rulers: “Kings shall see and arise; princes, and they shall prostrate themselves; because of the Lord, who is faithful, the Holy One of Israel, who has chosen you.”


I gave my back to the smiters, and my cheeks to those who pulled out the beard; I hid not my face from shame and spitting.


As many were astonished at him — his appearance was so marred, beyond human semblance, and his form beyond that of the sons of men—


Now you are walled about with a wall; siege is laid against us; with a rod they strike upon the cheek the ruler of Israel.

Now the men who were holding Jesus mocked him and beat him;


And Herod with his soldiers treated him with contempt and mocked him; then, arraying him in gorgeous apparel, he sent him back to Pilate.


The soldiers also mocked him, coming up and offering him vinegar,


But what is God's reply to him? “I have kept for myself seven thousand men who have not bowed the knee to Baal.”


that at the name of Jesus every knee should bow, in heaven and on earth and under the earth,


Therefore let us go forth to him outside the camp, and bear the abuse he endured.
