If I am wicked, woe to me! If I am righteous, I cannot lift up my head, for I am filled with disgrace and look upon my affliction.


I am a laughingstock to my friends; I, who called upon God and he answered me, a just and blameless man, am a laughingstock.


Behold, I have prepared my case; I know that I shall be vindicated.


But you, come on again, all of you, and I shall not find a wise man among you.


know then that God has put me in the wrong, and closed his net about me.


But he knows the way that I take; when he has tried me, I shall come forth as gold.


For Job has said, ‘I am innocent, and God has taken away my right;


therefore I despise myself, and repent in dust and ashes.”


Then once more you shall distinguish between the righteous and the wicked, between one who serves God and one who does not serve him.
