As for you, you whitewash with lies; worthless physicians are you all.


All my intimate friends abhor me, and those whom I loved have turned against me.


My brethren are treacherous as a torrent-bed, as freshets that pass away,


Have I said, ‘Make me a gift’? Or, ‘From your wealth offer a bribe for me’?


My friends and companions stand aloof from my plague, and my kinsmen stand afar off.


Men of low estate are but a breath, men of high estate are a delusion; in the balances they go up; they are together lighter than a breath.


All a poor man's brothers hate him; how much more do his friends go far from him! He pursues them with words, but does not have them.


Turn away from man in whose nostrils is breath, for of what account is he?


We would have healed Babylon, but she was not healed. Forsake her, and let us go each to his own country; for her judgment has reached up to heaven and has been lifted up even to the skies.


Then Jesus said to them, “You will all fall away because of me this night; for it is written, ‘I will strike the shepherd, and the sheep of the flock will be scattered.’
