So Satan went forth from the presence of the Lord, and afflicted Job with loathsome sores from the sole of his foot to the crown of his head.


My skin turns black and falls from me, and my bones burn with heat.


When I lie down I say, ‘When shall I arise?’ But the night is long, and I am full of tossing till the dawn.


O my God, I cry by day, but thou dost not answer; and by night, but find no rest.


I cry for help until morning; like a lion he breaks all my bones; from day to night thou dost bring me to an end.


I hear, and my body trembles, my lips quiver at the sound; rottenness enters into my bones, my steps totter beneath me. I will quietly wait for the day of trouble to come upon people who invade us.
