And the Lord sent against him bands of the Chaldeans, and bands of the Syrians, and bands of the Moabites, and bands of the Ammonites, and sent them against Judah to destroy it, according to the word of the Lord which he spoke by his servants the prophets.


and the Sabeans fell upon them and took them, and slew the servants with the edge of the sword; and I alone have escaped to tell you.”


While he was yet speaking, there came another, and said, “The Chaldeans formed three companies, and made a raid upon the camels and took them, and slew the servants with the edge of the sword; and I alone have escaped to tell you.”


he will not be rich, and his wealth will not endure, nor will he strike root in the earth;


God gives me up to the ungodly, and casts me into the hands of the wicked.


His strong steps are shortened and his own schemes throw him down.


To fill his belly to the full God will send his fierce anger into him, and rain it upon him as his food.


There the wicked cease from troubling, and there the weary are at rest.


His harvest the hungry eat, and he takes it even out of thorns; and the thirsty pant after his wealth.


Behold, thou hast made my days a few handbreadths, and my lifetime is as nothing in thy sight. Surely every man stands as a mere breath! Selah


Against a godless nation I send him, and against the people of my wrath I command him, to take spoil and seize plunder, and to tread them down like the mire of the streets.
