O God, the heathen have come into thy inheritance; they have defiled thy holy temple; they have laid Jerusalem in ruins.


And they shall be called The holy people, The redeemed of the Lord; and you shall be called Sought out, a city not forsaken.


We have become like those over whom thou hast never ruled, like those who are not called by thy name.


Thy holy cities have become a wilderness, Zion has become a wilderness, Jerusalem a desolation.


Be not exceedingly angry, O Lord, and remember not iniquity for ever. Behold, consider, we are all thy people.


Many shepherds have destroyed my vineyard, they have trampled down my portion, they have made my pleasant portion a desolate wilderness.


The enemy has stretched out his hands over all her precious things; yea, she has seen the nations invade her sanctuary, those whom thou didst forbid to enter thy congregation.
