Pharaoh turned and went into his house, and he did not lay even this to heart.
but he who did not regard the word of the Lord left his slaves and his cattle in the field.
Because he considered and turned away from all the transgressions which he had committed, he shall surely live, he shall not die.
And the man said to me, “Son of man, look with your eyes, and hear with your ears, and set your mind upon all that I shall show you, for you were brought here in order that I might show it to you; declare all that you see to the house of Israel.”
Then he said to me, “Fear not, Daniel, for from the first day that you set your mind to understand and humbled yourself before your God, your words have been heard, and I have come because of your words.
Then the king, when he heard these words, was much distressed, and set his mind to deliver Daniel; and he labored till the sun went down to rescue him.
“Is it a time for you yourselves to dwell in your paneled houses, while this house lies in ruins?
You have sown much, and harvested little; you eat, but you never have enough; you drink, but you never have your fill; you clothe yourselves, but no one is warm; and he who earns wages earns wages to put them into a bag with holes.
But when he came to himself he said, ‘How many of my father's hired servants have bread enough and to spare, but I perish here with hunger!
Examine yourselves, to see whether you are holding to your faith. Test yourselves. Do you not realize that Jesus Christ is in you?—unless indeed you fail to meet the test!
But let each one test his own work, and then his reason to boast will be in himself alone and not in his neighbor.
