But his servant Zimri, commander of half his chariots, conspired against him. When he was at Tirzah, drinking himself drunk in the house of Arza, who was over the household in Tirzah,


And of Jezebel the Lord also said, ‘The dogs shall eat Jezebel within the bounds of Jezreel.’


Do not desire her beauty in your heart, and do not let her capture you with her eyelashes;


And lo, a woman meets him, dressed as a harlot, wily of heart.


And you, O desolate one, what do you mean that you dress in scarlet, that you deck yourself with ornaments of gold, that you enlarge your eyes with paint? In vain you beautify yourself. Your lovers despise you; they seek your life.


They even sent for men to come from far, to whom a messenger was sent, and lo, they came. For them you bathed yourself, painted your eyes, and decked yourself with ornaments;


Sigh, but not aloud; make no mourning for the dead. Bind on your turban, and put your shoes on your feet; do not cover your lips, nor eat the bread of mourners.”


Let not yours be the outward adorning with braiding of hair, decoration of gold, and wearing of fine clothing,


Now the Philistines gathered all their forces at Aphek; and the Israelites were encamped by the fountain which is in Jezreel.
