And the time that Jeroboam reigned was twenty-two years; and he slept with his fathers, and Nadab his son reigned in his stead.


In the twentieth year of Jeroboam king of Israel, Asa began to reign over Judah,


And Abijah pursued Jeroboam, and took cities from him, Bethel with its villages and Jeshanah with its villages and Ephron with its villages.


But Abijah grew mighty. And he took fourteen wives, and had twenty-two sons and sixteen daughters.


“Son of man, behold, I am about to take the delight of your eyes away from you at a stroke; yet you shall not mourn or weep nor shall your tears run down.


Immediately an angel of the Lord smote him, because he did not give God the glory; and he was eaten by worms and died.


And about ten days later the Lord smote Nabal; and he died.


And David said, “As the Lord lives, the Lord will smite him; or his day shall come to die; or he shall go down into battle and perish.
