while their inhabitants, shorn of strength, are dismayed and confounded, and have become like plants of the field, and like tender grass, like grass on the housetops; blighted before it is grown?


He comes forth like a flower, and withers; he flees like a shadow, and continues not.


My heart is smitten like grass, and withered; I forget to eat my bread.


As for man, his days are like grass; he flourishes like a flower of the field;


Let them be like the grass on the housetops, which withers before it grows up,


For they will soon fade like the grass, and wither like the green herb.


Surely man goes about as a shadow! Surely for naught are they in turmoil; man heaps up, and knows not who will gather!


Thou dost sweep men away; they are like a dream, like grass which is renewed in the morning:


that, though the wicked sprout like grass and all evildoers flourish, they are doomed to destruction for ever,


“I, I am he that comforts you; who are you that you are afraid of man who dies, of the son of man who is made like grass,


But if God so clothes the grass of the field, which today is alive and tomorrow is thrown into the oven, will he not much more clothe you, O men of little faith?


whereas you do not know about tomorrow. What is your life? For you are a mist that appears for a little time and then vanishes.


And the world passes away, and the lust of it; but he who does the will of God abides for ever.
