Then on that day David first appointed that thanksgiving be sung to the Lord by Asaph and his brethren.
David and the chiefs of the service also set apart for the service certain of the sons of Asaph, and of Heman, and of Jeduthun, who should prophesy with lyres, with harps, and with cymbals. The list of those who did the work and of their duties was:
Of the sons of Asaph: Zaccur, Joseph, Nethaniah, and Asharelah, sons of Asaph, under the direction of Asaph, who prophesied under the direction of the king.
As for the divisons of the gatekeepers: of the Korahites, Meshelemiah the son of Kore, of the sons of Asaph.
And the Spirit of the Lord came upon Jahaziel the son of Zechariah, son of Benaiah, son of Je-iel, son of Mattaniah, a Levite of the sons of Asaph, in the midst of the assembly.
and of the sons of Eli-zaphan, Shimri and Jeuel; and of the sons of Asaph, Zechariah and Mattaniah;
And Hezekiah the king and the princes commanded the Levites to sing praises to the Lord with the words of David and of Asaph the seer. And they sang praises with gladness, and they bowed down and worshiped.
The singers, the sons of Asaph, were in their place according to the command of David, and Asaph, and Heman, and Jeduthun the king's seer; and the gatekeepers were at each gate; they did not need to depart from their service, for their brethren the Levites prepared for them.

and certain of the priests' sons with trumpets: Zechariah the son of Jonathan, son of Shemaiah, son of Mattaniah, son of Micaiah, son of Zaccur, son of Asaph;
For in the days of David and Asaph of old there was a chief of the singers, and there were songs of praise and thanksgiving to God.
The Mighty One, God the Lord, speaks and summons the earth from the rising of the sun to its setting.
O God, why dost thou cast us off for ever? Why does thy anger smoke against the sheep of thy pasture?
We give thanks to thee, O God; we give thanks; we call on thy name and recount thy wondrous deeds.
Give ear, O my people, to my teaching; incline your ears to the words of my mouth!
O God, the heathen have come into thy inheritance; they have defiled thy holy temple; they have laid Jerusalem in ruins.
Give ear, O Shepherd of Israel, thou who leadest Joseph like a flock! Thou who art enthroned upon the cherubim, shine forth
God has taken his place in the divine council; in the midst of the gods he holds judgment:
O God, do not keep silence; do not hold thy peace or be still, O God!
The lot came out for the families of the Kohathites. So those Levites who were descendants of Aaron the priest received by lot from the tribes of Judah, Simeon, and Benjamin, thirteen cities.
