When you spread forth your hands, I will hide my eyes from you; even though you make many prayers, I will not listen; your hands are full of blood.


“Therefore do not pray for this people, or lift up a cry or prayer on their behalf, for I will not listen when they call to me in the time of their trouble.


Then the Lord said to me, “Though Moses and Samuel stood before me, yet my heart would not turn toward this people. Send them out of my sight, and let them go!


You have rejected me, says the Lord, you keep going backward; so I have stretched out my hand against you and destroyed you;— I am weary of relenting.


Is evil a recompense for good? Yet they have dug a pit for my life. Remember how I stood before thee to speak good for them, to turn away thy wrath from them.


For this the earth shall mourn, and the heavens above be black; for I have spoken, I have purposed; I have not relented nor will I turn back.”


Do you not see what they are doing in the cities of Judah and in the streets of Jerusalem?


Then they will cry to the Lord, but he will not answer them; he will hide his face from them at that time, because they have made their deeds evil.


let me alone, that I may destroy them and blot out their name from under heaven; and I will make of you a nation mightier and greater than they.’


If any one sees his brother committing what is not a mortal sin, he will ask, and God will give him life for those whose sin is not mortal. There is sin which is mortal; I do not say that one is to pray for that.
