'Tis vain for you to rise betimes, or late from rest to keep, To feed on sorrows' bread; so gives he his beloved sleep.


Thy wondrous loving-kindness show, thou that, by thy right hand, Sav'st them that trust in thee from those that up against them stand.


The shield of thy salvation thou didst on me bestow: Thy right hand held me up, and great thy kindness made me grow.


Now know I God his king doth save: he from his holy heav'n Will hear him, with the saving strength by his own right hand giv'n.


This man did trust in God, that he would free him by his might: Let him deliver him, sith he had in him such delight.


Through God we'll do great acts; he shall tread down our enemies.


Thou, Lord, who great adversities, and sore, to me didst show, Shalt quicken, and bring me again from depths of earth below.


Thy hand, ev'n thy right hand of might, why dost thou thus draw back? O from thy bosom pluck it out for our deliv'rance sake.


But I for ever will declare, I Jacob's God will praise.
