Hold up my goings, Lord, me guide in those thy paths divine, So that my footsteps may not slide out of those ways of thine.


Arise, O Lord; save me, my God; for thou my foes hast stroke All on the cheek-bone, and the teeth of wicked men hast broke.


O Lord, upon me mercy have, for trouble is on me: Mine eye, my belly, and my soul, with grief consumed be.


Of shield and buckler take thou hold, stand up mine help to be.


Let them be like unto the chaff that flies before the wind; And let the angel of the Lord pursue them hard behind.


But wicked men, and foes of God, as fat of lambs, decay; They shall consume, yea, into smoke they shall consume away.


Through thee we shall push down our foes, that do against us stand: We, through thy name, shall tread down those that ris'n against us have.


When back my foes were turn'd, they fell, and perish'd at thy sight:
