Our steps they compass'd; and to ground down bowing set their eye.


Bulls many compass me, strong bulls of Bashan me surround.


Let not my wrongful enemies proudly rejoice o'er me; Nor who me hate without a cause, let them wink with the eye.


For peace they do not speak at all; but crafty plots prepare Against all those within the land that meek and quiet are.


For without cause have they for me their net hid in a pit, They also have without a cause for my soul digged it.


Those men that do without a cause bear hatred unto me, Than are the hairs upon my head in number more they be: They that would me destroy, and are mine en'mies wrongfully, Are mighty: so what I took not, to render forc'd was I.


For round about me ev'ry day, like water, they did roll; And, gathering together, they have compassed my soul.
