He many times deliver'd them; but with their counsel so They him provok'd, that for their sin they were brought very low.


The wonders great, which thou, O Lord, didst work in Egypt land, Our fathers, though they saw, yet them they did not understand: And they thy mercies' multitude kept not in memory; But at the sea, ev'n the Red sea, provok'd him grievously.


My comfort, and my heart's delight, thy testimonies be; And they, in all my doubts and fears, are counsellors to me.


Thou hast, O Lord, most glorious, ascended up on high; And in triumph victorious led captive captivity: Thou hast received gifts for men, for such as did rebel; Yea, ev'n for them, that God the Lord in midst of them might dwell.


God doth the solitary set in fam'lies: and from bands The chain'd doth free; but rebels do inhabit parched lands.


Thou, with thy counsel, while I live, wilt me conduct and guide; And to thy glory afterward receive me to abide.


How often did they him provoke within the wilderness! And in the desert did him grieve with their rebelliousness!
