He closely sits in villages; he slays the innocent: Against the poor that pass him by his cruel eyes are bent.

He sitteth in the lurking places of the villages: In the secret places doth he murder the innocent: His eyes are privily set against the poor.

He sits in ambush in the villages; in hiding places he slays the innocent; he watches stealthily for the poor (the helpless and unfortunate).

For the Lord is just, and he has chosen justice. His countenance has beheld equity.

Our steps they compass'd; and to ground down bowing set their eye.

The widow they and stranger slay, and kill the fatherless.
