Listen to me, you that pursue righteousness, you that seek the Lord. Look to the rock from which you were hewn, and to the quarry from which you were dug.


Then Isaiah is so bold as to say, “I have been found by those who did not seek me; I have shown myself to those who did not ask for me.”


What then? Israel failed to obtain what it was seeking. The elect obtained it, but the rest were hardened,


For “no human being will be justified in his sight” by deeds prescribed by the law, for through the law comes the knowledge of sin.


Then what becomes of boasting? It is excluded. By what law? By that of works? No, but by the law of faith.


Is the law then opposed to the promises of God? Certainly not! For if a law had been given that could make alive, then righteousness would indeed come through the law.


as to zeal, a persecutor of the church; as to righteousness under the law, blameless.
