Abram passed through the land to the place at Shechem, to the oak of Moreh. At that time the Canaanites were in the land.


Now then bring it about; for the Lord has promised David: Through my servant David I will save my people Israel from the hand of the Philistines, and from all their enemies.”


I rejoice at your word like one who finds great spoil.


The Lord swore to David a sure oath from which he will not turn back: “One of the sons of your body I will set on your throne.


In God, whose word I praise, in God I trust; I am not afraid; what can flesh do to me?


Then you spoke in a vision to your faithful one, and said: “I have set the crown on one who is mighty, I have exalted one chosen from the people.


Once and for all I have sworn by my holiness; I will not lie to David.


Concerning the prophets: My heart is crushed within me, all my bones shake; I have become like a drunkard, like one overcome by wine, because of the Lord and because of his holy words.
