These two things have befallen you —who will grieve with you?— devastation and destruction, famine and sword— who will comfort you?


Who will have pity on you, O Jerusalem, or who will bemoan you? Who will turn aside to ask about your welfare?


Therefore, thus says the Lord of hosts, the God of Israel: I am going to punish the king of Babylon and his land, as I punished the king of Assyria.


We tried to heal Babylon, but she could not be healed. Forsake her, and let each of us go to our own country; for her judgment has reached up to heaven and has been lifted up even to the skies.
