My friends and companions stand aloof from my affliction, and my neighbors stand far off.


You have caused friend and neighbor to shun me; my companions are in darkness.


“I have trodden the wine press alone, and from the peoples no one was with me; I trod them in my anger and trampled them in my wrath; their juice spattered on my garments, and stained all my robes.


And Jesus said to them, “You will all become deserters; for it is written, ‘I will strike the shepherd, and the sheep will be scattered.’


Day after day I was with you in the temple teaching, and you did not arrest me. But let the scriptures be fulfilled.”


A certain young man was following him, wearing nothing but a linen cloth. They caught hold of him,


The hour is coming, indeed it has come, when you will be scattered, each one to his home, and you will leave me alone. Yet I am not alone because the Father is with me.


Jesus answered, “I told you that I am he. So if you are looking for me, let these men go.”


At my first defense no one came to my support, but all deserted me. May it not be counted against them!
