When Abner returned to Hebron, Joab took him aside in the gateway to speak with him privately, and there he stabbed him in the stomach. So he died for shedding the blood of Asahel, Joab's brother.


Then the priest Jehoiada commanded the captains who were set over the army, “Bring her out between the ranks, and kill with the sword anyone who follows her.” For the priest said, “Let her not be killed in the house of the Lord.”


Keep back your servant also from the insolent; do not let them have dominion over me. Then I shall be blameless, and innocent of great transgression.


Whoever strikes father or mother shall be put to death.


If someone is burdened with the blood of another, let that killer be a fugitive until death; let no one offer assistance.


But anyone who strikes another with an iron object, and death ensues, is a murderer; the murderer shall be put to death.


Although I told you, you would not listen. You rebelled against the command of the Lord and presumptuously went up into the hill country.


If a prophet speaks in the name of the Lord but the thing does not take place or prove true, it is a word that the Lord has not spoken. The prophet has spoken it presumptuously; do not be frightened by it.


“Cursed be anyone who strikes down a neighbor in secret.” All the people shall say, “Amen!”

—especially those who indulge their flesh in depraved lust, and who despise authority. Bold and willful, they are not afraid to slander the glorious ones,
