Then the sentinel saw another man running; and the sentinel called to the gatekeeper and said, “See, another man running alone!” The king said, “He also is bringing tidings.”


While he was still speaking, Jonathan son of the priest Abiathar arrived. Adonijah said, “Come in, for you are a worthy man and surely you bring good news.”


Again the sentinel reported, “He reached them, but he is not coming back. It looks like the driving of Jehu son of Nimshi; for he drives like a maniac.”


Like the cold of snow in the time of harvest are faithful messengers to those who send them; they refresh the spirit of their masters.


Like cold water to a thirsty soul, so is good news from a far country.


How beautiful upon the mountains are the feet of the messenger who announces peace, who brings good news, who announces salvation, who says to Zion, “Your God reigns.”


And how are they to proclaim him unless they are sent? As it is written, “How beautiful are the feet of those who bring good news!”
