“No doubt you are the people, and wisdom will die with you.


It is not good to eat much honey, or to seek honor on top of honor.


Do you see persons wise in their own eyes? There is more hope for fools than for them.


Let another praise you, and not your own mouth— a stranger, and not your own lips.


The Pharisee, standing by himself, was praying thus, ‘God, I thank you that I am not like other people: thieves, rogues, adulterers, or even like this tax collector.


For I will not venture to speak of anything except what Christ has accomplished through me to win obedience from the Gentiles, by word and deed,


Let such people understand that what we say by letter when absent, we will also do when present.


For it is not those who commend themselves that are approved, but those whom the Lord commends.


Are we beginning to commend ourselves again? Surely we do not need, as some do, letters of recommendation to you or from you, do we?


We are not commending ourselves to you again, but giving you an opportunity to boast about us, so that you may be able to answer those who boast in outward appearance and not in the heart.
