“The man, the lord of the land, spoke harshly to us, and charged us with spying on the land.


When Joseph saw his brothers, he recognized them, but he treated them like strangers and spoke harshly to them. “Where do you come from?” he said. They said, “From the land of Canaan, to buy food.”


So Jeroboam and all the people came to Rehoboam the third day, as the king had said, “Come to me again the third day.”


he spoke to them in accordance with the advice of the young men, “My father made your yoke heavy, but I will add to it; my father disciplined you with whips, but I will discipline you with scorpions.”


But he rejected the advice that the older men gave him, and consulted the young men who had grown up with him and now attended him.


Then Pharaoh said to him, “Get away from me! Take care that you do not see my face again, for on the day you see my face you shall die.”


A soft answer turns away wrath, but a harsh word stirs up anger.


The poor use entreaties, but the rich answer roughly.


Cease straying, my child, from the words of knowledge, in order that you may hear instruction.
