The man said, ‘The woman you put here with me – she gave me some fruit from the tree, and I ate it.’
The Lord said, ‘What have you done? Listen! Your brother’s blood cries out to me from the ground.
When you did these things and I kept silent, you thought I was exactly like you. But I now arraign you and set my accusations before you.
Therefore no-one will be declared righteous in God’s sight by the works of the law; rather, through the law we become conscious of our sin.
