because they rebelled against the words of God, and contemned the counsel of the Most High:


and forgat his works, and his wonders that he had showed them.


Thou shalt bring them in, and plant them in the mountain of thine inheritance, in the place, O Lord, which thou hast made for thee to dwell in; in the sanctuary, O Lord, which thy hands have established.


And the people murmured against Moses, saying, What shall we drink?


And the whole congregation of the children of Israel murmured against Moses and Aaron in the wilderness:


Wherefore the people did chide with Moses, and said, Give us water that we may drink. And Moses said unto them, Why chide ye with me? wherefore do ye tempt the Lord?


And he called the name of the place Massah, and Mer´ibah, because of the chiding of the children of Israel, and because they tempted the Lord, saying, Is the Lord among us, or not?


but ye have set at nought all my counsel, and would none of my reproof:


they would none of my counsel: they despised all my reproof.


and forgettest the Lord thy Maker, that hath stretched forth the heavens, and laid the foundations of the earth; and hast feared continually every day because of the fury of the oppressor, as if he were ready to destroy? and where is the fury of the oppressor?
