I will send him against a hypocritical nation, and against the people of my wrath will I give him a charge, to take the spoil, and to take the prey, and to tread them down like the mire of the streets.


I have commanded my sanctified ones, I have also called my mighty ones for mine anger, even them that rejoice in my highness.


Hast thou not heard long ago, how I have done it; and of ancient times, that I have formed it? now have I brought it to pass, that thou shouldest be to lay waste defensed cities into ruinous heaps.


Cursed be he that doeth the work of the Lord deceitfully, and cursed be he that keepeth back his sword from blood.


Or if I bring a sword upon that land, and say, Sword, go through the land; so that I cut off man and beast from it:


Thou therefore, son of man, prophesy, and smite thine hands together, and let the sword be doubled the third time, the sword of the slain: it is the sword of the great men that are slain, which entereth into their privy chambers.


Shall I cause it to return into his sheath? I will judge thee in the place where thou wast created, in the land of thy nativity.


Son of man, prophesy, and say, Thus saith the Lord; Say, A sword, a sword is sharpened, and also furbished:


therefore thus saith the Lord God; Behold, I will stretch out mine hand upon the Philistines, and I will cut off the Cher´ethim, and destroy the remnant of the seacoast.


Shall a trumpet be blown in the city, and the people not be afraid? shall there be evil in a city, and the Lord hath not done it?


The Lord's voice crieth unto the city, and the man of wisdom shall see thy name: hear ye the rod, and who hath appointed it.


Now go and smite Am´alek, and utterly destroy all that they have, and spare them not; but slay both man and woman, infant and suckling, ox and sheep, camel and ass.
